ASTM B-117 Salt Spray Test

The salt fog cabinet test measures the resistance of a coating to high humidity and salt corrosion. After 4,775 hours, all panels had rust in the scribes but no sign of any undercut corrosion. This indicates excellent resistance to permeation by corrosive waters.

After the test, one panel was destructively tested for adhesion. The adhesion was such that under film corrosion was not occurring and no pinhole corrosion was evidenced.

The remaining panels were returned to the Salt Fog Cabinet for another 4,500 hours emerging with the same results.
